Quiet Quitting has raised it’s head once again in the news  https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20230811-quiet-quitting-is-the-status-quo-workers-are-still-proud-to-do-the-bare-minimum

A phrase coined in around 2022 by Brian Creely, has been used to describe employees who, through lack of engagement for whatever reason, in their employment, take the decision to “coast” through their job, putting only basic effort into their daily tasks and no longer going “above and beyond”.

I understand it from both sides of the coin.  I’ve been in job roles where the original job spec has gone out of the window as more and more tasks are handed over.  This is great, where the extra mile is recognised and rewarded, but if it’s not, it is demoralising and leads to stress and burnout.  Although Covid can’t be blamed for quiet quitting entirely, it certainly gave rise to employees rethinking their options for a better work/life balance.  But with the current rises in costs for employers, the options for providing that better quality of work life, training and taking on more staff at higher salaries is also a tough ask right now.

think outside the box with Red Cool Consulting

In a challenging environment, now is a good time for companies to think outside the box – or outside the company – literally.

Outsourcing some resources provides a pressure release valve for businesses at times when they need it the most, and can prevent burnout and disengagement in employees.

  • Help when Needed…and Not when it’s Not!
Outsourcing gives flexibility.  If you don’t need a full time employee year round for some projects, then you’re only going to be paying for the time you use the service!

  • Coping with Increased Demand
Rather than putting pressure on employees already working to capacity, using an outsourced resource can help to demonstrate whether there is value in taking on an additional employee at a future date.

  • Access to Specialised Skills
Utilising a specialist in their field means that the company gains immediate expertise without having to train staff, which takes time.  It can also mean that the company gets to know what it really needs before deciding whether a staff promotion and training programme for a specific area needs to be introduced.

  • Improved Efficiency
Outsourcing gives you the ability to ensure the job is done without compromising the efforts of your existing employees in their day to day tasks.  Improved turnaround times.
